PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

The personal information we collect typically consists of or includes, but is not limited to:

  • A unique subscriber ID

This information is required when you (a) participate in or register to be part of a Foundation program, (b) register to receive or apply for services, grants or scholarships, (c) fill out a form on the Website or create a user account, (d) submit an application, or (e) otherwise similarly interact with the Foundation. 

In limited circumstances in connection with Foundation events, awards or grant applications, we may also collect:

  • W9 related information, including social security numbers,
  • Bank account information, or
  • Other financial information necessary to process a grant.

By submitting personal information to the Foundation, you agree that we may use the information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT BY AUTOMATED MEANS

When you visit and interact with the Website, we may collect information that does not inherently reveal your specific identity.  The Foundation uses this information to understand better how visitors use the Website, research our visitors’ demographics, interests, and behavior, and provide visitors with customized services and information.  The Foundation also uses the information collected to assess and improve our program, improve our promotional and outreach efforts, and for other similar purposes. Google Analytics.  The Foundation also uses Google Analytics. This is a service that uses cookies and tracking code to analyze how visitors use the Website.   • Managing your preferences;
  • Performing analytics concerning your use of our online services, including your responses to our emails and the pages you view;
  • Providing you tailored content and communications on topics and developments we believe will be of interest you, including program related activities, including text messages if you have opted in to receiving SMS communications
  • Operating, evaluating and improving our programs (including performing data analytics and accounting, auditing and other internal functions);
  • Complying with and enforcing applicable legal requirements, relevant industry standards, contractual obligations and our policies;

Other than the examples noted above, or when we have your permission, we do not release personal information about you as an individual to third parties.

3. SECURITY AND THIRD-PARTY SITES

Although the Foundation has certain security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information you provide, no email or web transmission is completely secure against interception or incorrect routing. Thus, there is always the risk that unauthorized persons may access or use your personally identifiable information. You should exercise care and good judgment when transmitting data over the Internet or filling out forms for any website. We may link to third party websites. Although we try to link to websites that share our respect for customer and visitor information privacy, the Foundation is not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of websites to which links may be provided. USER GENERATED CONTENT

Some of our services and social networking features may enable you to submit your own content for public posting.  Information you post in this fashion becomes public information and is not subject to this Privacy Policy.  Certain areas of our websites and our social media pages may enable users to submit personal information to the Foundation or its partners.  Such information will be used in accordance with this Privacy Policy.  Postings, letters, and other submissions become the property of the Foundation and may be reproduced in whole or in part, including your name, for any purpose and in any manner.

A SPECIAL NOTE ON CHILDREN

We encourage everyone to visit this website and learn about the Foundation. Our website is not designed for or directed to individuals under the age of 13. No information should be submitted nor posted to the Website by individuals under the age of 13 without express parental consent. For example, if you are under 13, parental consent is required to submit a Wehrmann Cultural Trust application. In certain jurisdictions, notification, prior written permission, or other verifiable consent may be required of a parent or guardian for children from 13 to 17 years of age. If you believe your child has provided us with information without your consent, please email us at the address set forth in the “How to Contact Us” section below. In connection with the submission of a scholarship application, children are only eligible to register to use the services of the Foundation in conjunction with a parent or guardian. Parents or guardians should become knowledgeable about software and other tools so they can assure that children’s use of the Internet reflects parental preferences and requirements.

VISITING OUR WEBSITE FROM OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES 

If you are visiting our website from outside of the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored or processed in the United States, where our servers and headquarters are located. The data protection and other laws of the United States might not be as comprehensive as those in your country, but please be assured that we take steps to protect your privacy. By using our Website, you understand that your information may be transferred to our facilities and those third parties with whom we share it as described in this Privacy Policy.

Security Measures

We use the SSL/HTTPS protocol throughout our site. This encrypts our user communications with the servers so that personal identifiable information is not captured/hijacked by third parties without authorization. In case of a data breach, system administrators will immediately take all needed steps to ensure system integrity, will contact affected users and will attempt to reset passwords if needed.

UPDATING AND ACCESSING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Keeping your account information and preferences up to date is very important to us. You have rights over your personal information may include the right to review your information, request that we stop using it or remove it from our database (thereby canceling your registration), or update your account information.  The Foundation will provide you with all of your personal information provided at registration or application submission upon request. This information will only be sent to the email address on file for the subscriber ID associated with it. You can request this by logging in and accessing the account profile section of each online service for which you have registered. If you cannot locate, access or make desired changes to the information or permissions online, you may send a request by emailing us at info@thewehrmannfoundation.org. Of course, we cannot track down “de-identified” information to change it or undo any prior use of data we already used with your actual or implied consent.
