Teagan's Story

HUNTINGTON BEACH – Police announced on Wednesday that a 18-year-old Newport Beach woman who was ejected from her Ford Ranger on Feb. 15 after the pickup was hit by a Chrysler 200 around 3:30 a.m. near Springdale Street and Edinger Avenue, died.

The woman was initially taken to UCI Medical Center as a critical trauma patient and died at the hospital, police Sgt. Julio Mendez said. Her passenger, 19-year-old man from Costa Mesa, sustained minor injuries and was also treated at UCI.

The sedan’s 27-year-old driver, Darius Roberts, of Huntington Beach, was uninjured and booked on suspicion of felony DUI.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears one vehicle was traveling east on Edinger Avenue, while the other south on Springdale Street, when the collision occurred at the intersection, ” police Sgt. Julio Mendez said.

The Orange County Coroner’s office has identified the woman as Teagan Wehrmann, 18, of Newport Beach.
